Discovering Health In An Online Humor Magazine

When it comes to online humor, there are a number of websites which can provide a great deal of fun and laughter. An online humor magazine like The Onion, and others can provide hours of laughter and entertainment. As science has proven, it only takes fifteen to twenty minutes a day of laughter to aid health and happiness. Reading an online magazine, listening to a comedic radio show, or watching sit-coms on television or the web can often help create a laugh response.

Scientific research also shows how and why people laugh. First, laughter is a natural response like blood pumping through the veins or breathing. While not quite as important, it is something that can be useful in the healing process when it comes to illness and injury.

The new question in scientific circles is whether or not laughter can warrant needing a Laughter Therapist. Then if so, whether or not insurance companies should pay for the treatment. Most often insurance companies are not going to cover a prescription of laughter. On the bright side, at least there is no prescription cost associated with healing through laughter. Depending on the reason provided for the appointment, the office call in which it is prescribed may or may not be covered under various health care plans.

A book by Norman Cousins, Anatomy of An Illness suggest laughter can protect and heal the body. His view that laughter has the ability to heal first hand was proven when he discovered his pain went away while watching the Candid Camera and the Marx Brothers. After which, he also claims he was able to sleep hours instead of minutes without pain.

Mr. Cousins found that when he watched the Marx Brothers, Candid Camera and other funny shows that it helped the pain of a debilitating spinal disease. He once claimed that only ten minutes of televised humor helped him sleep without pain for two hours or more at a time. When he would try to sleep without having read or watched humorous material and laughing, he could rarely sleep for more than a few minutes before the pain returned, if he could get to sleep at all.

While there are critics to this scientific research, many doctors are now prescribing laughter for various illnesses and injuries. One of the best ways to see if laughter works to ease pain is to watch a funny program or stand up comedian while in pain. When combining a healthy diet and exercise with laughter, better health, happiness and well being are often just around the corner.

There are multiple formats when it comes to humor and laughter. One can watch sit-coms, or attend a stand-up comedy show. Others finding reading comic strips, newspapers and other humorous content online to be more gratifying. Different people find listening, reading or watching comedy fun; However, as different people often find different things funny, it can also be fun to listen, read and watch alone at times.

Humor is anything that is comedic and funny. Humorous content generally creates a laugh out loud response from the audience. Whether that is an audience of one or one hundred doesn't matter. All that matters is that the humor generates laughter which can then help heal the body, mind and soul of audience members and the audience as a whole.
