Over the years, American television has become such a melting pot for rare talents and personalities. There were names that were only fleeting as the streak that the weren't able to successfully sustain over the years. There are those that were able to cling to their glory days through talent and perseverance and dedication to their craft. Among these is <A href="http://www.rickoverton.net">Emmy Award Winner Rick Overton</A>.
He is known as a very reputable script writer. This has been evidence in the nods and recognition that he has secured out of establishing a career penning scripts for the television industry. He is an actor and a comedian too. His comedic side is attributed to the stand-up comedy that he used to do back in his high school years.
There are many writing credits that he is known for. The most popular one would have to be his stint in writing the script for Dennis Miller Live. Several nods were given for his excellent scriptwriting here. He received the Emmy award for his talent in scriptwriting for this same series back in 1996. He is credited for firms and video materials as as the Secret Adventures of Jules Verne film and Willow.
His birth place is in Forest Hills in Queens, New York. However, he actually grew up in Englewood in New Jersey. It was in Dwight Morrow High School that he finished his secondary education. His mother is Nancy. She was famous for her personal appearances as a member of the famous girl group The Chordettes. They are known for their famous songs Mr. Sandman, as well as Lollipop. Hal, his father, used to be a band arranger. He was associated with Thelonious Monk. He's a music teacher from the Milliards Institute. Also, he hails from a family of musicians.
It is to be noted that the first onscreen appearance he had was for Young Doctors In Love. This was a film that was released in 1982. He then had a small role in Airplane II:The Sequel. Then, he penned the New Adventures of Beans Baxter in 1987. At the same time, he was able to appear in television shows, as well as in films like Willow, Amazing Stories, and Million Dollar Mystery.
He is no stranger to the music industry too. He is known to play the harmonica. He was even able to use it in playing with local blues bands. His career as stand-up comedian in high school. He's a part of the well-known- Overton and Sullivan duo. He had to part ways and go solo in the 1970s though after his success at the New York Improvisation.
His work in Dennis Miller Live got an Emmy nomination in the year 1997. He already won the award for Outstanding Writing on a Variety or Music Program the year before. This is for the same series. He was able to receive the nod of the panel from the Writers Guild of America. This is for the very same show too, but for the year 1997. This further cemented his renown as an outstanding scriptwriter in the field.
An avid motorcyclist, he's known to take part in many charity rides. For instance, he is a regular in the love ride, which is for the annual ride in celebration of the Muscular Atrophy. He loves to build models in his spare time too and has won awards for the sci-fi category in certain convention.
